Level of Education

  • Kindergarten

ACG School Jakarta commences the learning journey in Kindergarten with a strong focus in early childhood education providing a play/enquiry-based programme which develops communication and socialisation skills preparing students for future learning opportunities. The natural curiosity of young children is nurtured through Units of Enquiry. The Units of Enquiry offer learners the opportunity to explore and acquire essential knowledge and skills, and to develop positive attitudes.

  • Primary

The International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) is designed for focusing on total development of the child in a social, cultural, physical and emotional context. This programme is designed to develop internationally minded people within a prescribed curriculum framework of essential elements; knowledge, concepts, skills, attitudes, and action. Each of these are clearly reflected in the IB Learner Profile which provides students with a reference point to develop life-long learning skills.

The philosophy of the PYP directly affects the child and is expressed in a series of desired attributes and traits that are characteristic of learners with an international perspective. They apply to all learners and it is expected that all students participate in all aspects of the programme. Technology is also fully integrated across the curriculum and students practice, develop and explore how to enhance their learning experiences by utilising these various mediums.

  • Secondary

In Years 7 to 9, the broad-based curriculum provides an excellent foundation for study at senior secondary level. At the end of Year 9 students sit the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) Checkpoint examinations in Mathematics, English and Science. These examinations give an objective measure of student performance and are internationally benchmarked.

During Years 10 and 11 students at ACG School Jakarta study a range of courses, some compulsory and some optional, which lead to examinations of the International General Certificates of Secondary Education (IGCSEs).They result in the award of internationally-recognised and respected qualifications equal to the GCSE exams that students in England take at this same stage of their education.

For students in Year 12 and 13, the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) is a two year programme of study which follows on directly from IGCSE courses, it provides greater breadth and depth of study than national systems allow and is an internationally recognised qualification for university entrance. Students study six selected subjects, one from each group with 3 at Higher Level (HL) and 3 at Standard Level (SL). Students can select an additional Science (Group 4) subject in Group 6 instead of Visual Arts should they wish to do so. At ACG School Jakarta Chemistry and Sport, Exercise and Health Science are available in Group 6.
