GENERAL INFORMATION

Raffles Christian School is a Certified Cambridge Centre for International Examinations (CIE), offers an international curriculum aligned to the Cambridge Primary Checkpoint, Cambridge Secondary Checkpoint, IGCSE and International AS and A Level examinations. Raffles also offers the Global Assessment Certificate (GAC)—one of the world’s most widely recognised university preparation programmes which guarantee entry into a worldwide range of universities.

Level of Education

  • Pre-Primary

 

The Pre-Primary curriculum is modelled after the Kindergarten Frameworks of Singapore (MOE) and inspired by Reggio Emilia approaches. There are 7 main areas of development and all areas are given equal importance. The 7 main areas are English, Mathematics, Science, Mandarin, Music, Art & Craft, Story Telling.

Pre-Primary at Raffles has a very comprehensive Phonics curriculum that prepares K1 and K2 Children to read and spell with confidence.

  • Primary

Raffles School Primary Programme adopts the curriculum developed by Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) for children aged 6-12 (Grades 1 to 6).

The Cambridge International Primary Programme which is used as the core curriculum is Raffles Christian School (RCS) gives the school the framework to develop Mathematics, English, and Science skills and knowledge in young children. It also allows teachers to assess children’s learning through Cambridge International Primary Achievement Test (CIPAT) Progression tests.

  • Secondary

Raffles Secondary school has Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) as the curriculum base. It is a curriculum and assessment system, suitable for schools and colleges around the world. The Cambridge IGCSE programme from CIE brings out the best in students and develops successful learners through a skills-based approach to teaching and assessing.

The Cambridge Checkpoint curriculum is for students Secondary 1 and 2 (Grade 7 & 8). It is beginning courses leading to Cambridge IGCSE. It consists of a set of formal, diagnostic assessments in English, Mathematics and Science, which provide invaluable information on a student’s strengths and weaknesses.

  • Junior College

For the Junior College level, Raffles offers two programs at the same time, A-Level and GAC. A Levels have been accepted as proof of academic ability for entry to universities and institutes of higher education of job entry. International A Level is a ‘gold standard’ qualification. It has exactly the same value in admitting students to universities as the UK equivalent and is accepted as an entry qualification by universities worldwide.

The Global Assessment Certificate (GAC) is one of the several English-language programs offered by ACT Education Solutions, Limited, a subsidiary of ACT Inc, based in Iowa City, US. The GAC us a Foundation Studies (or Pre-University) Program that aims to provide the necessary skills for students to graduate from High School with English-language proficiency in many subjects.
